The Great Orion Nebula

This is the Great Orion Nebula, located in the winter constellation Orion. I used an 8" Schmidt-cass telescope with a standard Meade focal reducer and a Meade DSI w/RGB color filters. This is an unguided image and taken in bad light pollution off a main street so the exposures were limited to 4 seconds each. The FOV (Field Of View) was small so I had to plan my first astrophoto mosaic to capture a majority of this star cocoon. I used RegiStax for the stacking of the many individual frames, and MaxIm to calibrate the images, then Photoshop CS2 with the Fit's Liberator Plug-in for post-processing and assembling of the final mosaic. This accomplishment really propelled my passion for astrophotography but it’s my only deep space image. I've been trying to capture the Andromeda galaxy or Whirlpool or Pinwheel but light pollution and a faulty auto mount is preventing it.
